Ukrainian forces reportedly enter Belgorod Oblast as Kursk incursion continues. The soldiers in a video posted on Aug. 10 held the battalion’s flag and a Georgian flag, and the sign on the building behind them reads “Porozovsky Village Club.”

Over 76,000 Russians evacuated from Kursk Oblast amid Ukraine’s incursion, Russian authorities say. Evacuated civilians have been moved to temporary residence centers that have opened across western Russia, including Moscow Oblast, the head of Russia’s Emergency Ministry Artem Sharov said.

Zelensky: Ukraine pushing war into ‘aggressor’s territory.’ “Today, Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi has already reported several times, on the front-line situation and on our actions to push the war out into the aggressor’s territory,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening address Aug. 10.

Ukraine destroys another Russian patrol boat in occupied Crimea, military intelligence says. A Magura naval drone operated by Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR) destroyed a Russian KS-701 Tunets (Tuna) patrol boat and damaged three more Russian watercraft in occupied Crimea, HUR reported on Aug. 10.

Minsk summons Ukrainian embassy over drone incursion. Belarus’ Foreign Affairs Ministry issued a “strong warning” to Ukraine’s Charge d’Affaires to Belarus Olha Tymush and threatened to end diplomatic relations after what Minsk claims was “a Ukrainian provocation.”

Belarus to send troops and rocket systems near Ukrainian border after alleged drone incursion. “Military units of special operations forces, ground forces, missile forces, including the Polonez rocket systems and Iskander (mid-range ballistic missile) complexes, were tasked with marching to designated areas.” the Belarusian defense minister said.

July was ‘deadliest month’ for Ukrainian civilians since October 2022, UN says. At least 219 civilians were killed and 1,018 injured in Ukraine in July, making it “the deadliest month for civilians” since October 2022, the U.N. human rights office said in a report on Aug. 9.

Russian missile used to strike Kyiv children’s hospital was produced recently, investigators say. The missile that struck Okhmatdyt, Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital, on July 8 was manufactured in Russia only weeks, and possibly days, before the attack, the Conflict Armament Research (CAR) investigative outlet reported.

Human cost of war

Russian attack on Kyiv Oblast kills 2, including 4-year-old boy. The bodies of a 35-year-old man and his 4-year-old son were found under the rubble during search and rescue operations on Aug. 11. The attack also injured three people, including a 13-year-old.

Russian attacks against Ukraine kill 18, including children, injure 60 over past day. Russian attacks against Ukraine killed at least 18 people, including two children, and wounded another 60 in the past day, regional authorities reported on Aug. 10.

Russian drone attacks in Kherson injure 10, including teenager. Russian forces attacked the city of Kherson with drones on Aug. 10, injuring 10 people, including a 15-year-old boy. The teenager is in moderate condition, as are most of the victims.

General Staff: Russia has lost 589,700 troops in Ukraine since Feb 24, 2022. Russia has also reportedly lost 8,441 tanks, 16,350 armored fighting vehicles, 22,453 vehicles and fuel tanks, 16,605 artillery systems, 1,143 multiple launch rocket systems, 918 air defense systems, 366 airplanes, 327 helicopters, 13,372 drones, 28 ships and boats, and one submarine.

Ukraine’s Iryna Koliadenko wins silver medal in wrestling at Paris Olympics. Ukrainian wrestler Iryna Koliadenko won the silver medal in women’s wrestling in the 62 kg weight division at the Olympic Games in Paris on Aug. 10.

Ukrainian sisters finish 5th in artistic swimming duet. Maryna and Vladyslava Aleksiiva, twin sisters representing Team Ukraine in artistic swimming, won fifth place in the duet final at the Paris Olympics on Aug. 10.

Kolomoisky’s suspicion amended, says Ukraine’s Bureau of Economic Security. Ukraine’s Bureau of Economic Security reported on Aug. 9 that it changed the previously announced suspicion of oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky.
